The Bear you are currently admiring is just the greatest Chad Valley bear I have met to date of his type. He has a charming face, a really gentle expression and is a bear you just want to pick up and hug. He is a big bear, but not too big to fit in most cabinets if you wish. Standing 24 inches tall with thick arms and thighs, a really good hug. His celluloid covered button is good and firm in his thick mohair in his right ear and he still has a button that someone has kindly
sewn in his left ear to give him a matching pair! ( The one in his left ear is of course a clothing button ,but don't tell him yet...) He has 90% plus mohair coverage, the only loss being to his tummy which has thinned and his side seam areas. But the overall appearance of this fine bear is fluffy fluffy fluffy! I took great pleasure in cleaning him, a lot of hours, but the mohair is such good quality, that it just came right back to life. His nose stitching is all original and is beautiful, nicely
faded slightly which I love on Original stitching. A very smiley mouth rather than sad mouth is what this fine bear wears. His mohair was once a very vibrant colour, he might possibly have been classed as a "coloured" bear, orange, but he has mostly faded to a more subtle warm sunshine blonde, You can still see under his chin and in his leg joints his vibrant hue and he is slightly brighter at the back than front, But after cleaning , this came more even as the dirt had protected his mohair.
I cannot enthuse enough about this boy, most of you who know me of old, know that I am not a collector of Chad Valley, in fact I only have a few items of Chad valley in my cabinets. but you know. ... if he does not find a home for Christmas...I may just change that! This boy has totally won me over. .he will come clean and fresh to you and of course with a few hugs under his belt. His beautiful c 1920 Mohair coat can be purchased separately at a cost of £55
