Superb Rare Goldilocks and the Three Bears picture blocks, no later than 1890 possibly as early as 1860. |

I have decided to put this amazing item on the bears pages. It is the most wonderful set of Victorian picture blocks featuring Goldilocks and the three bears story. To find a complete set is amazing. The box is 100% original with picture of Goldilocks to the front which is charming. The image on the box is darkened with age, but the contents are superb! This is of course a considered purchase and I will be sad to see these gone from my own collection, but I am limited right now with display space so have decided to let someone else enjoy these to their full potential. Dating no later than 1890, the blocks were produced in London, England and feature early lithographed prints of the three bears family, There is only one block with slight paper damage on one face as you can see on the photographs. Apart from that the blocks are great! One picture ( a guide to each puzzle! 6 of them and harder than you might imagine!) has a piece missing, but again does not detract from the overall set. A VERY rare and wonderful part of the Bear story and to think these will have been played with so much , they have survived all these years, Shows how kids USED to treasure their possessions, CHARMING! This was a rather on the spur of the moment purchase from a top quality antiques fair, I fought long and hard to get the price to a realistic figure! I can assure you that it will be many years until you see such a fine set again , if at all! I Hope whoever buys these will get many a delight looking through the pictures and displaying these with their collection, |
